BMW Sauber drivers Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, will be starting fourth and 11th on the grid respectively for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix. While Kubica was able to fight in all three qualifying sessions, Heidfeld just failed to get through to the top ten, admitting a number of mistakes.

Robert Kubica

"I’m quite happy with fourth on the grid. Looking at the first practice sessions of the weekend, this was more than we expected. We made progress with the car, and I was able to put in some really good laps. In particular, my lap in Q2 was very good. Unfortunately on my second run in Q3 Nico Rosberg went wide in front of me in corner 14 and put some dust on the track. As a consequence my tyres lost massive grip in the final corners of that lap. Most probably I could have finished third, but still I’m satisfied with my performance."

Robert was real hero of the day. He drove wonderfully, had the best strategy and for sure would win that race in spectacular way - overtaking the driver who led from the start (Button) on final lap! But it happened what happened - obvious Vettel's mistake. The domination of BGP will not last very long - just to the jury's decision. Then - special diffusors for all or for nobody. And Rob has finally really good car!

Kubica was best driving there for sure, and would have overtook Button i'm sure if not for that accident, He deserves to be first after all the best driver there is!

For sure Robert was the best driver on the track before things went bad.

I have been wondering tho.

Vettel was awarded 13th place and Robert 14th.

But since Vettel crashed before Robert, shouldn't it be the other way around?

Let go Vettel managed to drive his wreck quite some distance, but his team was also fined for it.

That makes me think he should be awarded the place he had when he hit the wall, trashing his car.

Not that there is much of a differense between 13th and 14th place. But still....
