Webber linked to Renault

Mark Webber is turning out to be a hot piece of property, it was revealed Saturday after the qualifying session in Valencia, Spain.

Renault team boss Eric Boullier admits that he and Webber have talked about a possible move to Renault next year, a so far un-confirmed claim from SpeedTV. Webber´s contract expires after this season, but the Aussie driver have recently said he is happy to stay with Red Bull, if they can build a car that performs.

The big driver roulette seems to be going on for some time now. Lewis Hamilton is also rumoured to be leaving McLaren, even though he insists that he is standing shoulder to shoulder with the Woking-based team. A move to Red Bull, to replace Webber, is suddenly not so far fetched.

But Webber will not have to work with neither Vitaly Petrov or Nick Heidfeld. The undisputed first driver in Lotus Renault is still Robert Kubica. Nick Heidfeld is replacing the injured driver until he returns and though Petrov is doing a good job this season, three is a crowd.

Boullier said: “I really like Mark and have known him for a long time. We have discussed it from time to time but we have never pushed him to ask what he wants to do because that decision is up to him.”

So a Kubica-Webber combo for 2011? Not such a bad idea?
